Here is a very brief video of the office space, you aren't really aloud to take video so I was trying to be discrete. Evidence of Growth:
Challenges prompt growth --> What are some challenges that you have encountered and what are the steps you have taken to address and overcome those challenges? I am being challenged to work with people and ask for help when needed. I talked to Brett and Reggie last week about dealing with difficult people and they tole me to ask questions and help out with the girl's tasks. This has been helping get along with one of the girls, the other is a bit harder to crack. How have your mentor and your co-workers supported you in your growth in skills and knowledge? Once you ask people for help, they will respond nicely, but something I realized is that if I don't ask, people won't offer to help. I think this has made me become both more self reliant and helped my communication skills. Today I was supposed to interview my mentor, but she has been out of office since Wednesday. I'm not sure when she's coming back or if she will be able to be interviewed due to the election so close and her hectic schedule. She's been sending me work remotely, but I haven't been in touch with her other than that. Instead, I've been making videos throughout the week about my day and what I have been doing. I spliced them together, so you don't have to listen to me ramble too much. I feel like I would be missing something if I didn't mention the office, space is incredibly unique. The campaign is run out of a co-op space in Carlsbad; there are at least four businesses also working in the same space. My favorite part is the large commons area anyone can work out of, it's meant for people to eat lunch, host guests, or make phone calls. I've been spending the majority of my time in this space because of its great vibes and allowance for me to snack constantly through the day. A large portion of my time goes to making social media posts for Sara's endorsements and the like. This is one of my favorite things to do for the campaign because it lets me be creative with some guidelines. Here are the posts I made this week: Describe your project or internship. What are you excited about? Nervous about?
I am doing a video editing project. The campaign has a lot of random video footage and I am putting the videos together, organizing them, giving them captions and such. I am excited to learn more about Adobe Premiere and explore the program more. I am nervous about getting bored with doing the same thing every day. Describe a new skill or new knowledge that you acquired this week while in externship. I have learned a little more about Adobe Premiere, a program I've had for a long time, but never opened. Describe your project or internship. What are you excited about? Nervous about? I am interning with the Sara Jacobs campaign for Congress. I am excited to learn new skillsets and develop my personal network, but I am nervous because I am not exactly sure what I am going to be doing the entire time. Who is your internship/project mentor? What advice or feedback have you received from your mentor on your project plan? My mentor's name is Chelsea and she is the campaign's manager. She told me to be ready for anything. One day I will be in the office, the next I may be taking photos at an event. Here are two photos from the California Democratic Party Convention I went to in support of Sara Jacobs a couple weeks ago.
